Simulation & Demo Mode
Tendrex includes a built-in simulation mode that lets admins experience the platform from different perspectives without affecting real data. Use it to verify your setup, test role-based permissions, and onboard new team members.
Role simulation
Section titled “Role simulation”Role simulation lets you switch between Tendrex’s five user roles to see exactly what each role can access.
Available roles
Section titled “Available roles”| Role | What you see |
|---|---|
| Administrator | Full access — users, teams, organisation settings, audit logs |
| Bid Manager | Tender portfolio, deadlines, pipeline management, team workload |
| SME | Personal queue, assigned questions, knowledge library |
| Reviewer | Pending approvals, review actions, answer quality metrics |
| Viewer | Read-only access to tenders, answers, and dashboards |
Starting a simulation
Section titled “Starting a simulation”- Navigate to Settings in the sidebar (admin access required).
- Select the role you want to simulate.
- Optionally select a specific user to see their exact queue and assignments.
- Optionally select a team to filter the view to that team’s workload.
- The platform immediately adapts — navigation, features, dashboards, and data visibility all change to match the simulated role.
The simulation banner
Section titled “The simulation banner”When simulation is active, an amber banner appears at the top of the page showing:
- The current simulated role and user
- Quick-switch buttons to jump between roles instantly
- An Exit button to return to your admin view
What is and isn’t simulated
Section titled “What is and isn’t simulated”Simulated:
- UI navigation and available features
- Data visibility and filtering
- Dashboard widgets and layout
- Queue items and assignments
Not simulated:
- Your identity — audit logs still record you as the actor
- Authentication — you remain signed in as yourself
- Cross-organisation access — simulation is scoped to your organisation
Demo mode
Section titled “Demo mode”Demo mode switches you into a separate, pre-populated demo organisation with realistic sample data. Nothing you do in demo mode affects your real organisation.
What’s included
Section titled “What’s included”The demo organisation comes pre-seeded with:
- 6 realistic tenders at various lifecycle stages — from active bids to awarded and lost outcomes
- Pre-populated answers covering compliance, technical, and commercial topics
- Teams — Technical, Security, Commercial, ESG, Operations, HR
- Knowledge library — approved canonical answers for common topics (GDPR, business continuity, sustainability, cyber security, etc.)
- Source documents — sample policies and plans
- Audit trail — example log entries showing typical platform activity
Entering demo mode
Section titled “Entering demo mode”- Navigate to Settings.
- Click Enter Demo Mode.
- The platform reloads into the demo organisation.
- Combine with role simulation to see the demo data from any role’s perspective.
Use cases
Section titled “Use cases”- Testing your process: Walk through the full workflow — create a tender, upload questions, generate answers, review, and export — without committing real data.
- Onboarding new users: Show team members how Tendrex works before they start on real tenders.
- Verifying configuration: Check that role permissions, team routing, and dashboard layouts behave as expected.
- Stakeholder demos: Present the platform to decision-makers with realistic-looking data.
Recommended setup checklist
Section titled “Recommended setup checklist”Use simulation to verify each step of your setup:
- Upload documents — switch to SME role and confirm they can see the knowledge library.
- Create teams with expertise tags — simulate each team lead and check their queue is empty and ready.
- Configure dashboards — cycle through each role and verify the default widgets are relevant.
- Create a test tender in demo mode — upload questions, generate answers, and review the full workflow end to end.
- Invite your team — once everything looks right from every role’s perspective.
